All about Environment
A design that both us and mother nature can be proud of.
Along with the environmental awareness, a lot of people has started to concern about environmental issues that relate to their daily life. Since 2005, the Construction and Planning Agency has implemented "EEWH" (stands for Ecology, Energy Saving, Waste Reduction, and Health), to lay the groundwork of practicing eco-friendliness of buildings.
Then, is our Environment Studies Building an eco-friendly building? According to the announcement of approval cases from Taiwan Architecture and Building Center, The new construction project of Environmental Studies Building of National Dong Hwa University did got the approval of EEWH. However, after the expiration of 5 years, the school didn't seem to apply for extension, which now on the list our information is showed as expired.
What we can know is the biodiversity, greening index, rainwater conservation, daily energy-saving, water resource, sewage and garbage improvement all these aspects in the past did meet the standard of being eco-friendly building.
If we put the government and laws aside, just talk about users' experiences, you can certainly find many differences between old and new buildings. Like, flooded with natural light or seeing green space and gardens everywhere you go, these brought the artificial structures even closer to Mother Nature.
Here is an interesting fact, the Environmental Studies Building has different windows and Air conditioners than old designed buildings. This is why the pigeons disdain to stop at all so the building still remains its beauty.
