Dong Hwa Wonderland
Ding Dong! Here come some more facts besides Dong lake!
When first establishing Dong Hwa, the school wanted to follow the example of Cambridge, create a river that flows through the whole school, the plan did actually carry out for a while. But there was a typhoon once that plugged the pipeline with dirt and sand, which gradually evolved into two artificial lakes, one is Dong lake in the center of the campus and the other is the Hwa lake that hides in the woods near Management Building.

There are also courses of kayaking that you don't get to see in other schools, take places in this lake.
The other lake, Hwa lake is much mysterious. It can definitely be a secret attraction. Most of the Dong Hwa people have only heard of the name but never had visited it. The fact that it is isolated enriched Hwa lake's ecosystem. There are some related descriptions that you can read from the book "The home is just this close to the waterside" (provisionally translated), written by Ming-Yi professor from the Department of Sinophone Literatures.
Although Hwa lake is only one-fourth of Dong lake, it has various natural resources. You can see rafts of Spot-billed Duck resting and foraging on the lake, Curara pea which has appearance of weeds but is actually good food for Lampides boeticus, while surrounding by briefness "ribbit...ribbit..."sounds of Green pond Frog. Also, as the season changes, there are countless plants and animals hiding in this area.
